The Salt People are a Indie Soul, Blues, Roots and Rock band. Primary members are Kaylah Marin (Vocals), Kevin North (guitar and vocals), Val Serrant (Percussion) , Henry Mobley (Bass) and Eric Foster (Drums).
TSP have played many shows over the last 3 years including , music on the mountain festival , The Fog Fest , The Ron Dellums Memorial in Oakland with The Temptations , Winters Tavern , Neck of the Woods, and were awarded at the Garifuna film festival in LA for services to music .

Val Serrant comes from the village of tacarigua Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. He has been playing music since childhood. He sings and plays Traditional drum, assorted percussion, kalimba and steel drums. Val has performed his presentation DRUM TO STEEL DRUM/ AFRIKA TO THE KARIBBEAN AND BEYOND in Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Gambia, Australia, Borneo, Malaysia, Singapore, England, Finland, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Alaska, USA, Venezuela, Canada, Jamaica, Barbados, Grenada, Bahamas, Iceland and Hawaii. He has been the adjunct professor at UC Berkeley music department (Caribbean music course) since 2003. He is the faculty member “Vox Mundi School of the voice and sound. He is a current board member of Trinidad & Tobago cultural Association of California and a founding member of “RIDDIM TIME.”
Kaylah Marin first began writing and performing as a child with her father, jazz saxophonist Philip Marin, who instilled in her a love of music and dance rich within her Central American (Garifuna) roots. She has worked with Narada Micheal Walden, Billboard Producer DJ's , The Perry Twins and producer Quinn Coleman, Josh Harris, Mike Rizzo, Rod Carrillo, and Tracy Young. Her single “Oh Baby Please” debuted at number 3 on the dance Billboard chart, maintaining the top ten spot for over a month. Kaylah has performed for Human rights activist Dolores Huerta "Weaving Moments Together", benefit concert celebrating Huerta's 80th birthday at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. She also also scored music for the award winning documentary “Texas Gold” and did the voiceover and score for “Just Children,” winner of four international film festival awards.
Kev North, Influenced by the British blues rock bands of the early 70`s and the later Punk explosion, Kev relocated from Luton via Lowestoft to London in the late 70's. It was playing around the London venues that his chops started to come. The birth of the punk goth experiment Temple Slang in the mid eighties with Ex Dormannu frontman Mike, Nick Burton Drums ( Westworld , Jah Wobble and The Orb } and Phil Aimes (Pleasure and The Beast and Voice Of The Beehive) put everything into a different gear and shaped Kev's guitar style.
Henry Mobley plays acoustic upright bass, electric bass guitar and electric upright bass. He honed his chops under bass masters Mandy Flowers, Henry Grimes, Kash Killon, Carla Kaufman and Lilsle Ellis. Henry plays Jazz, Blues, Salsa, Bolero, and Creative Improvised music internationally and locally in the San Francisco Bay Area with, India Cooke, Bill Crossman, John Brown’s Truth Opera, Jorge Molina, , Lewis Jordan, Marshall Trammell, Juan Cuba & Claros Curo , Sarita Cannon Akinyele Sadik, The Spontaneous Combustion Opera , Warike, The Trouble Makers Union, Sandi Poindexter, Cheryl Schwartz, Raymond Nat Turner and Zigi Lowenberg of UpSurge, Maria Sarafina Medina, Eliza O’Malley, Scott Hampton, Dana Allen, Joe Ashton , The Crestones , Tony Seymore and WW4 and many others.
